LinkedIn for professionals: Why should I use LinkedIn?

In the first blog in this series, I explained what LinkedIn is (click here to read). In this blog I want to explain why you should dedicate some of your valuable time to LinkedIn.

What can LinkedIn do for me?

  1. Lead generation and nurturing.  Lead generation is always an aim for professionals and LinkedIn can help in that process.
  2. Become a visible expert. If you consider that your brand (and your company's) is a combination of both reputation and visibility then LinkedIn can help enormously with both.
  3. Content promotion. Most companies (particularly serviced based companies) produce a large amount of content. This can be used via LinkedIn to establish your company as an expert but also increase the reach of each piece of content getting you a better return on your efforts.
  4. Industry research and monitoring. You can track not only your owns reputation and influence the conversation but you can also monitor your clients, potential clients and competitors.

This year LinkedIn will have been going 10 years. It is still growing at a phenomenal rate. If it didn't work, people wouldn't use it.

If you'd like to get started download our "LinkedIn: the basics" guide which will take you step-by-step through the process of getting on to LinkedIn and setting up your profile.
